“In Our Classroom...”
RESPECT Class Rules and FIX IT Ticket Policy
To ensure accountability with each student, we have a RESPECT policy in our classroom. If a student is disrespectful to them self or others (distracting teammates, not completing work, shouting out repetitively, etc.), they will be asked to complete a FIX IT Ticket, where they write 1) How they were being disrespectful, and 3 things that they can do to change their behavior so it doesn't happen again. The goal is for students to he held accountable and make better choices the next time the situation arises. They will be asked to have you (the parent) sign the ticket and return it to class the next day. When you (the parent) and I are on the same page, we can help your student be successful and use their time well in 2nd grade!
- We are respectful to everyone. (yourself, your teacher, and your classmates)
-- Logical Consequence: If you hurt somebody’s feelings, you need to apologize. - We are safe.
-- Logical Consequence: You may lose out on an opportunity and get to try again next time. - We are responsible.
-- Logical Consequence: You might not be prepared and will have to apologize. - We raise our hand. (for a question or to ask permission)
-- Logical Consequence: You will be asked to try again before your question is answered. - We say “please” and “thank you”.
-- Logical Consequence: You will be asked to try again using manners. - We obey the first time.
-- Logical Consequence: You will be asked to apologize and try again. (Depending on the situation- our class/ the student may lose time that we could have spent learning that we might lose a fun opportunity OR a student may need a positive time out to refocus) - We all have a job.
-- Logical Consequence: You miss an opportunity to help the class, or you can spend your own time to finish the job (if possible). - We make mistakes.
-- Logical Consequence: We might have to apologize or solve a problem, but then we move on!
