About Miss Flohr
Hello Classroom 15 Families!
am honored to take part in your child's education.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I graduated from William Jessup University’s teacher credentialing program in December of 2014 where I earned both my bachelor’s degree and CA teaching credential at the same time.
I fully believe that students thrive in an environment that is safe and positive, but balanced with accountability for their work. The goal is for students to extend their learning beyond the classroom and become life-long learners. Through Project-Based Learning this year, each student will have a high accountability level for their learning, as they will be heavily involved in long-term projects for the majority of the year.
An amazing class is further made possible by you! If you would like to help out in the classroom in any way, I would love the help. Email me for specific times that work well for you!
There will be very little homework this year! I do ask that students practice their spelling words and read each day. Homework is an important time to reinforce skills that we are learning in class (especially reading and phonics skills). Please make sure your student is able to continue their learning at home. If you are having technical issues, please contact me! Check out the homework link to see this week's spelling words and homework.
With Bridges Math, I may send home some physical homework depending on it's importance. Please check your student's Communication Folder daily for any forms or homework pages sent home.
**Please Check the Homework page for monthly newsletters for what we are learning in math!**
I will be giving spelling tests each Friday. The words will be posted on the homework page each week.
In order to continue developing fluency, accuracy, and reading rate, it is extremely important that your child reads at least 15 minutes every night/ weeknight, as practice produces progress! Your student can read to you or with you, and you can read to your student too. Reading should be a fun time to explore a variety of books and genres.
If you would like to donate any snacks to the class for morning recess, (or if you have specific snacks that you want your child to eat) we would love the donation!
Please don’t be a stranger, I would love to keep in communication with every family. Feel free to contact me with any questions, comments or concerns you may have.
